Right now it’s Saturday morning, around 7:00 a.m. and I’m happy because this is my favourite time of the week. I love it because there’s usually a familiarity about this time – Paula and Tristan are both sleeping, leaving me alone with my coffee and computer to get about the business of writing my blog. I say “usually” because this week my routine feels a bit “off”, mostly because this same time last week we were packing things up in our hotel room in Bucerias, Mexico getting ready for our 2 day trip home (over-nighting in Vancouver) after a couple of glorious weeks in the sun. But from the moment we got back from our holiday it’s been “hair straight back” – which in my case, you know is a metaphor! Either way, it makes the point handily, am I right?! In other words from the moment our suit cases hit the front hallway of our condo, it’s been go-go-go, with nary a moment to breath. Here’s the skinny:
Since we hadn’t seen the little bugger for a fortnight, Tristan came home right away; once he was settled, I turned on my work computer to discover a barrage of work emails and problems to deal with (Yippee); Tristan’s high school graduation was Wednesday, which turned out to be an all-day event for us since he needed a bit of extra help getting around, as he does; and I came home to find several condo related issues that – being the president of our council – I had to attend to and get sorted out! Plus I got busy planning (and executing) a small “belated” birthday celebration for Paula, who turned 29 (eh-hem!) in Mexico and didn’t get a real celebration. Not only did I have little or no time to write the blog, but my “down-time” went from 24/7 to a big fat zero the moment we got back on Canadian soil, and my mind filled up with all the crap that goes along with such a massive change! Yikes! No wonder my Saturday morning routine seems so off this week!
As eluded to my post earlier this week, it’s great to be home, and I know that by next week the busyness of getting back into the routine will have settled down. Until then, please accept my apologies for the lack of original content or decent posts about something other than how frickin’ busy and manic my life is this week.
On the other hand, the cool thing is that I have some awesome pictures from our holiday AND Tristan’s graduation to share with you next week, both of which signify parts of my own personal definition of “Success”; those being down-time in a hot climate, and inspirational personal achievement, despite the barriers life throws up in front of us as people. Because in the end, that’s really what this blog is about – defining what “Success” means to me, to you, to whomever wants to live a full life – then going after those things and bringing them into our lives. Next week I’ll be back on track with more incredible stories to share, as well as the usual drivel meant to entertain, amuse and trick you into reading my blog “just once more” to see how my crazy life turns out!
So I guess that despite the madness that has been this week, looking back I can say it’s been another successful one for the Knapp-Fisher clan. I promise that next week to fill you in on all the details, complete with pictures of both our cool stuff we saw and did on our trip, as well as Tristan’s incredible and inspiring graduation ceremony and valedictorian speech. Until then, I’m just going to sip my coffee, ponder my thoughts, write a little more then begin to get ready for my next big adventure in one months time – a visit to North Carolina to see my friends J.D., Jackson and Buck Lewis of the amazing Twelve in Twelve Foundation! So excited!
Oh, and before I forget – Happy Birthday to me! 53 years young tomorrow!
And with that being said… Fish out!
