Hey Everyone, “Happy Friday”!
Yep, it’s the weekend again, and best of all; it’s only SEVEN days until we go away for two weeks at an all-inclusive in Puerto Vallarta! Woo Hoo! But before I drift off into a dream world of sun, sand, poolside bars and mojitos, I wanted to share with you a terrific video that I was sent this week from my friend Damien… Thanks Damien! It’s a quick narrative by a young man named Chad Mureta, and in it he discusses his philosophy and belief of how anyone can get anything they want out of life, simply by emulating the steps of people who’ve already been down the road they are considering. I’ve certainly learned this in my own life, and view it just like following a recipe. Let’s say that you want to duplicate a certain culinary result – maybe something like making a mean Lemon Herb Roasted Chicken – then all you need to do is follow the exact same steps as someone who has already done it. Then maybe after one or two tweaks, the chances are pretty good that you will have duplicated the exact same result as the original – easy, peasy!
Now obviously this is oversimplifying the concept, but here’s all you need to understand from this example: That (a) the core philosophy makes sense and therefore works, and (b) in the case of the chicken, it would still taste amazing and you WOULD eat very, very well AND impress your friends! But I digress…
Who is Chad Mureta?
A quick Google of Chad Mureta turned up a very impressive young man. He began his career by owning a newspaper and working as a real estate investor after leaving college in 2003, and then three years after he opened his own real estate agency. Unfortunately his timing was a bot off, as this also coincided with the housing market crash in California; and as a result, Chad wound up working long, hard hours, all just to try and keep the business afloat – not the plan he had in mind, not by a long stretch.
Then in 2009 tragedy struck: Chad had a very serious car accident that left him with his arm so severely crushed, it was nearly severed off. The recovery from this tremendous injury took a full year and half, and racked up 100K in hospital bills in the process – and because Chad is American, he was on the hook for it. While recovering in hospital, he began to re-think his future in real estate – Despite how hard he worked, it wasn’t going well and ultimately he wasn’t happy. The work consumed him, his time and money, and he certainly didn’t feel the passion he had once had for it. Then one day by chance, Chad read an article about “App Millionaires” and became curious about this idea of developing apps and thought it might be for him- he certainly knew he didn’t want to return to his real estate business. So with lots of recovery time on his hands, Mureta began researching, designing, and outsourcing the development of apps – all despite having zero tech experience.
Once he was all healed, he left the hospital and immediately borrowed $1,800 from his stepfather to get started. He created his first app, “Fingerprint Security-Pro,” which mimics fingerprint-scanning technology, which went on to become a bestseller, one that would net him more than 500K in revenues – a tidy sum that allowed him to pay off his hospital debt and keep on going. And keep on going he did – Chad went on to create over 46 more apps, which all together have been downloaded over 35 million times to date, and made him a very, very wealthy man – just 5 years after his near fatal car accident almost took his life. And as they say, the rest is history.
Recovery, the will to go on through the tough times, iron will, sheer drive – it’s clear Chad has all of these things. But it’s his basic belief and understanding of the concept that “success leaves clues” that everyone should heed. It’s a great philosophy and I strongly recommend anyone who is struggling with something – anything – take the seven minutes to watch the video below and hear him explain it. He is happy to share this secret to his success, and clearly has earned the right to voice his opinion; and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks again Damien for the inspiration for today’s post! And with that being said, I’ll wish every one of you a happy weekend, and start packing my suitcases!
