Picture This: It’s been a long and stressful day, full of loud noises and activity… work was a bitch, the kids missed the school bus, you broke a nail, and the milk in the fridge was sour making your morning coffee taste especially bitter! The worst part is that tomorrow, and the day after that, and so on, and so on, it doesn’t seem to be looking much better! What to do, oh, WHAT TO DO?!
Here’s one trick I’m slowly coming around to that seems to address this problem: It’s improving the soundtrack of my life. Instead of waking up and instantly putting on the radio, then listening to the endless stream of ads interspersed with the same pop songs, lately I’ve taken to listening to some quiet, peaceful music when I begin my day, or need a little “time out” from life. I call it “Instant Zen” – and it seems to start my day off so much better than when I would got without it. I close my eyes and it’s almost like I’m transported back to the amazing weekend I had this past summer.
With this routine, things feel like they go smoother, little problems seem to be less frequent, (or nowhere near as important) and life throughout the day just seems more balanced. If you want to give it a go, try this:
- Turn off all other ambient noises
- Grab a coffee or tea if you choose
- Click the video below
- Either watch it, or just silently “be” for 15 minutes… either way is good
- Repeat again tomorrow
Okay, sure, it’s meditation – but it’s also re-claiming our lives back from the busyness they’ve become. Give it a try and let me know what you think – other than some madness in your life, what do you have to lose?
Now you are all relaxed, you can go out and tackle the day, realizing that maybe – just maybe – we don’t need to have so much stress in our lives, right? I thought so!
