2014 has arrived and as usual, despite all my good intentions, I’ve been caught with my pants down in the goal-setting department. It’s not that I don’t HAVE goals, because I do, and lots of them; but despite all my preaching to others about how to set and achieve goals, (“Clarify and quantify, people, CLARIFY AND QUANTIFY!!) I’ve made myself so frickin’ busy that I’ve not been able to follow my own advice as of yet! And so it’s not that I’ve been lazy in getting them written down, but with so much going on these days I’m having trouble fitting EVERYTHING in the mere 24 hours we’ve been allotted each day! What’s that? Really? Okay, okay, you’re right; it’s time for me to quit whining like a little girl and just get it done… And so that’s exactly what I’m about to do. So without further adieu, here come my “2014 Goals”~! (Trumpet blaring)
Take davidknappfisher.com to the Next Level: Well, I spent the last year figuring out my blog, how it works, getting it set up, etc. all with no real intention to draw attention to it until I hit a certain point. That point was supposed to be when there was enough posts per category (at least 2 or 3) to give it some “meat” and other than that categories “World Travel” and “Food and Libations” I’m pretty much there. I guess this means that my next two posts will go into those categories to eliminate all excuses for not promoting the blog; and once this is done, I’ll begin working on getting subscriptions and more “likes” to my dedicated Facebook page. My “numbers” goals for the year is to hit 250 subscribers and 500 Facebook likes – so do your part and help me out please?!
Finish up and publish 3 “free” giveaways on the site:
1) Success Blueprint
2) A Manifesto
3) Some Wallpapers with inspirational quotes
Also, I want to have 4 posts a week (3 written, + one video/photo) per week, plus a minimum of ten (10) guest bloggers on the site before Dec 31st, to bring more variety of style and substance to the content. Ambitious? Yes. Doable? I’m pretty sure… are you up to being one of them?
Pay Down Our Mortgage: As I eluded to in my year end goals, we are on an accelerated program to become 100% debt free, including our mortgage – Woo Hoo! Our biggest “Year-End” goal is to do just that, and so we are aiming to pay off over the next 36 months, which we should be on track to do (disclaimer coming) barring any unforeseen circumstances; a.k.a. called car repairs, dental crowns etc. Once this goal is achieved it will be a major “game-changer” around here, and put me one step closer to allowing me to work more on my true passions and purpose which is helping people create incredible lives. Oh yes, and then there’s no doubt that once we’ve slated this dragon, we’ll hit the road again: so far we’ve got Europe and Turkey in our sights!
Grow our Net Worth: This year we’re looking to increase our non-real estate investment capital; we will continue to steadily invest in our RRSP’s and hope the stock market continues to co-operate. If anyone wants to give us some cash to help out, we’d be both grateful and appreciative. Empty beer and wine bottles (or full ones) will also do us just fine, thank you very much!
Build “successnetworkvictoria.com” Into a Business: This is an old idea of mine whose time seems to almost have come; to create a networking company that also hosts events around the city all for the purpose of connecting passionate, excited and action oriented people. It seems like a perfect companion fit to my blog, and is the perfect way to use all my skill set to meet lots of new people. At this point I think it would be fairly easy to launch, but a whole lot more work to keep up and run. Plus there would have to be a monetary component to it to make it worthwhile.
Set Up www.myawesomelifeplan.com: Set up site and write at least 3 levels of a the Success Blueprint for sale by end of the year; not 100% sure what that looks like just yet.
Edit and Publish my book – “Less Talk… More Action!”: To be offered as a “Pay what you feel” come early 2015. This is a bit of a long shot, but hey, you’ve got to have one or two “dark horses” on the list, right?
Go to Mexico for TWO WEEKS!: Every year we go to Mexico for a week, but this year it seems like we should go for two; it shouldn’t cost too much more, and I’m thinking we could really use the time to eat more, drink more, lay on the beach more, and possibly even squeeze in one or two more good books.
Successful Transfer of Tristan From High School to Real Life: I don’t even know what this looks like, but with him graduating high school in June, it’s not a goal that’s going to wait around for me to figure out; I have to be diligent and on the lookout to make sure I seize and and all opportunities to make this switch as seamless as possible, and so that he’s happy. Wish me luck; I’m going to need it!
Get Tristan More Involved in Local Radio: After volunteering for the past year at the University of Victoria’s station, we have our sites set on getting some work experience at a local radio station to try and jump start his career in broadcasting.
Becoming a Simpsons Character: Or in the very least, get a drawing that looks like I’m one… done, courtesy of my new favourite website fiverr.com; if you haven’t seen it, check this site out. It’s the most fun you can have for five bucks, anywhere!
So those are my basic goals for the year; they are VERY ambitious, I know, but most are “in the hopper” already, so most are pretty doable as long as I keep my head down, ass up and remain focused on one at a time. I’ll keep you posted on how I’m doing, and report any successes and updates that occur.
Oh, and BTW: Please send all empty beer and wine bottles to me by Fed Ex (prepaid) and make sure each one is lovingly wrapped in $100 dollar bills to avoid any possible breakage. This simple act alone will go a long way towards helping me achieve many of my goals~!
