I got this idea that it might be cool to start each week off with some kind of inspirational message or video, and since “Inspirational Monday” doesn’t quite flow, I’m going to call it “Motivational Monday”. Regardless of whatever I call this weekly feature, it’s my hope these messages launch your week(s) with something that will inspire you to go out and do your very best during the week, as they do me. Case in point: Lizzie Velasquez. After watching her inspirational message, I can already think of a dozen things I can do better, beginning today… How about you? Watch her message below, and see what inspirational thoughts stir within you as well.
Lizzie was born with an extremely rare condition that won’t allow her to gain weight, and which has also robbed her of sight in one eye. Weighing only 65 lb. at age 25 years, she’s faced enormous amounts of challenges in her life, not the least of which is the cyber-bullying in the millions by despicable trolls hiding anonymously behind their keyboards. But here’s the thing; unlike these trolls, she’s turned her challenges into, well, challenges to be the very best she can be, and uses their venom as her motivation to achieve some very lofty goals; and man, is she ever succeeding with a vengeance! I was sent her Ted X talk this week and wanted to share it with you; it will take about 12 minutes to watch, but her inspiring spirit and message will stick with you. She’s a truly courageous young lady, and a shining example of the kind of person we strive to be. I especially like how she credits her parents “150%” for her positive attitude, something that reminds me to make sure I’m also doing the best I can for my own son.
Anyway, that’s enough of an introduction, and so without further adieu, please met Lizzie Velasquez; and be prepared to be amazed by her.
