When I was attended a workshop last summer in North Carolina, our facilitator J.D. Lewis recommended we read a book called E2 (E Squared) by Pam Grout. Being an avid “student of life”, I jumped on amazon.ca and ordered the book immediately; and once I’d read it (and done the accompanying exercises) I was super grateful for the recommendation. The book is a unique take on the whole “Law of Attraction” movement; and to be honest, from what I’ve seen is by far the best one out there – certainly a lot better than “The Secret”. (In case you aren’t aware, I have massive distain for that particular book, D.V.D. and it’s “cult-status” minion followers) So what is it about E2 that makes it so great? I’m glad you asked!
I think it all really comes down to Pam Grout herself – she seems like she’s one of those “super-cool” people, the kind who lifts the spirits of anyone who is around them. Her writing style is easy going, conversational, and at times, wickedly funny; combine all of these things together, and they make E2 a thoroughly enjoyable read for just about anyone.
But wait a minute; with this book there’s much more to do than just read it – as mentioned above, there’s also a lot of actual “doing stuff”, which comes in the form of the nine experiments. And don’t worry: These aren’t your Grade 9 science class experiments, not by a long shot! These experiments are interesting and actually a lot of fun to do, if I say so myself! But you don’t take my word for it; here’s how they’re described on the book jacket itself:
“E-Squared could best be described as a lab manual with simple experiments that prove reality is malleable, consciousness trumps matter, and you shape your life with your mind. Yes, you read right. It says prove.”
In my mind, the nine experiments in the book set out to accomplish two main things: First, they encourage readers to take actions; actions that will ultimately lead to the manifesting, creating, attracting – whatever you want to call it – of the very things they identify as wanting to have in our lives. Secondly, the book asks us to open our minds and become fully aware that most of what we want is available for us already, but if we only take time to realize it, which sadly, it seems that most people these days don’t.
Rather than being grateful for all the good things that happen to them (Wow! I just got a Pumpkin Spiced Latte for a buck!) most folks tend to take them for granted. Instead, they usually walk around in a funk, worried about this, stressed about that, sipping their (dollar) coffee and bitching about how they never get a break- despite THE FACT that they’re holding a hot, spicy and tasty one in their hand! I can honestly say that before reading the book, I was guilty of this from time to time, but not anymore! I’ve seen the “signs” and nowadays ooze gratitude for such miracles!
How to Manifest Good Things Into Your Life
According to Pam, it all works something like this: Say you’re hungry and want some pizza; wouldn’t it be amazing if a random stranger came up to you on the street and said “Hey, I just ordered this extra large pepperoni pizza and aren’t hungry anymore, so do you want it?” Of course it would! It would be so awesome – but also unlikely! More realistically, you’d say to yourself like “Hey, I feel like a slice of pie” and (providing your hunger was strong enough) you’d then most likely wander to the closest pizzeria to get yourself a tasty snack. What Pam is saying is that the pizza (or whatever else you might want) was – is – already there and waiting; you just have to focus on a way to bring it into your life. Once you do this, the universe will help you get it! Understanding this, it’s no wonder people eat so much pizza!
For me, the “It’s already there, ready and waiting for you to ask for it” is a pretty important concept to understand whenever we want to bring anything new into our lives. Because as easy as it is to grab a bite to eat when we are hungry, not all the things we want in our life can be obtained so quickly or easily; however, the exact same principles apply; and that my friends, in a nutshell, is the point. Whatever you want or need is already available and waiting for you; but in order to get it, you need to make your intention for it known to the world, then take any and all actions available to get it.
I know this might sound a bit freaky or “new-agey”, but it’s 100% true: Pretty much anything we want IS already available for us – be it pizza, a trip to India, our soul mate, a particular job, etc. – but before any of these things can come into our lives, we have to be open to the idea of (a) noticing what’s already working in our favour, and (b) taking the actions that move us towards getting the things we want – which is where E-Squared comes in. The nine experiments in the book guide readers through simple, yet effective exercises that are designed to help them understand these concepts; and believe me when I say that once you start seeing – really seeing – all the ways the world is already working in your favour, (Like every time you say “Wow – what a coincidence!”) you’ll open up to the idea of manifesting more of what you want to have in your life. But don’t take my word on it – get the book, do the experiments and find out for yourself! Oh, and when you do, prepare to be astonished!
Get This Book!
I really love this book and recommend it for anyone who wants to do more, and achieve more than they currently are doing. As I mentioned, it’s helped me open up my own mind to the infinite possibilities around me, and as proven to me that when in comes to creating my life, I’m in control, and not external forces. I totally “get” that by being open to the universe, in turn it will provide me with all that I could possibly want – just as long as I’m willing to also do my part; which of course I am! In fact, just this week I’ve been able to manifest something very, very cool that I’ve wanted to have for about a year now, and I thought my opportunity was gone – but in the end, good intentions won the day! Woo Hoo! I’ll be telling you more about this exciting event in an upcoming post.
I think a lot of people would look at this idea of “putting ideas and intentions out to the universe” and say something like “That’s pretty stupid”, or something like that, which is unfortunate; but the fact is that these are usually the same people who aren’t living the kind of life that they want. Whenever these guys want, let’s say – the great “pizza” of life – rather than getoff their butts and go and get it, they wait around, wishing, hoping a Domino’s guy will show up, ring the door bell and hand one over! I have one question for these folks… What if the delivery guy doesn’t show up? What then? Exactly…
To attract all the pizza, trips to India, soul mates, etc. you could ever want, read E2; it’s available through Amazon.ca in book form, or really, really cheaply on a kindle – like, just over $3 bucks. Whatever you do, get it, read it, and above all, do the experiments! You’ll be blown away when you realize just how much “good stuff” is going on around you, all the time – something you’ll experience once you slow down a minute, and take the time to notice it. And once you have, nothing will ever be the same again. Good Luck!
